Mumbai, 6 October 2007 : Ageing doesn’t mean slowing down. In celebration of that fact, Harmony for Silvers Foundation proudly honours 10 Silver—Harmony’s term for the elderly—achievers for their contribution to society at the second annual Harmony Silver Awards on 7 October, at Rabindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi, Mumbai.
Our jury, comprising Justice Leila Seth, Shekhar Gupta, Om Puri, Victor Banerjee and MP Priya Dutt, has selected heroes who have made the world a better place; real people who have done extraordinary things: Baba Adhav, Parthibhai Bhatol, Kambel Chulai, Mandakini Dravid, Hirbaiben Lobi, Brother Brendan MacCarthaigh, Hasnath Mansur, Subhashini Mistry, Hardev Singh Sawhney and Laxman Singh. The winners will be felicitated with a cash reward of Rs 51,000 and citation each.
Prominent senior citizens, social activists, media and marketing professionals, people from the entertainment industry and leading minds from across India will attend this select gathering, which will include distribution of the awards and an entertainment programme that lives up to Harmony’s motto: Celebrate Age. For instance, silvers trained by salsa dancer Sandip Soparrkar will show their slick moves; Hasya Kavi Surender Sharma will entertain the audience in his inimitable style; and artists from BIG entertainment will perform a medley of chart-toppers from the 1960s to the 1980s.
The Harmony Silver Awards are one more significant step in bringing silvers to centre stage—the promise of Harmony Silvers Foundation since inception. “We are delighted once again to honour 10 silvers who have made the world a better place at Harmony Silver Awards 2008,” says Tina Ambani, chairperson, Harmony for Silvers Foundation. “Our winners are intrepid fighters who have overcome every obstacle with determination and zeal.
