Good Response to Five PG Certificate Programs Offered By Reliance World & XLRI Jamshedpur
- Courses aimed at mid-career executives
- Hassle-free enrolment & convenient locations key to programs' success
- Admissions close by August 14, 2009
Mumbai, August 10, 2009 : Reliance World and XLRI Jamshedpur jointly announced today the enthusiastic response received from professionals to their recent launch of five Postgraduate Certificate Programs.
The courses are aimed at mid-career executives through virtual classrooms at Reliance World retail outlets in over 40 cities in India. The Virtual Classroom programs, powered by Video Conferencing facilities, have been introduced to enable working professionals/executives across various functions to complete their management education while still in service.
Announcing the good response, Sarup Chowdhary, Director and CEO, Reliance Webstore Limited & NIS Sparta said, "We offer the best proposition for content providers and institutions running certification programs through distance learning as well as companies conducting their internal training programs. Besides partnering with the best of the content providers worldwide, Reliance World will also associate with universities and institutes of repute for long-term certificate / degree courses."
Hailing the long-term relationship, Fr. E. Abraham, Director of XLRI remarked, "We are happy to announce that through the broadband medium it is now possible for working executives to complete world-class management programs without relocating from their home towns. We have designed the course, and chosen a mode of teaching that will revolutionize the way education is imparted in India."
The five XLRI programs offered simultaneously through Reliance World are:
- Postgraduate Certification in Business Management (PGCBM)
- Postgraduate Certification in Human Resource Management (PGCHRM)
- Postgraduate Certification in Logistics & Supply Chain Management(PGLSCM)
- Postgraduate Certification in Retail Management (PGCRM)
- Postgraduate Certification in Sales and Marketing Management (PGCSMM)
These programs are designed to meet the specific needs of mid-career executives who want to enhance their knowledge in their respective functions.
The Union Budget 2009 announced a slew of schemes to leverage literacy rate in India along with helping students to study higher education. An expenditure outlay of Rs. 44,528 crore has been allocated for education in the current fiscal year, an increase of 20% over last year's.
India has a rapidly growing demand for educational opportunities and the existing facilities meet only half of that. Consequently, students are going abroad and paying unnecessarily high fees for a course that costs one fourth in India.
To extend the reach of the reputed educational institutes in our country, RCOM had come out at its Reliance World outlets with virtual classroom concept which has proven to be an ideal platform for the success of these programs. The experience is as good as in the classroom except that students participate from Reliance World outlets using the latest, most powerful and most flexible technology available. This medium offers real-time, multi-way audio and visual interaction of the professor and the students. The students can see and hear the professor live, view slides, audio-visuals, participate in interactive sessions with the professor and other students. Those who miss the class can catch up with the video recording on-demand at these Reliance World outlets. Frequent online assessments are conducted at Reliance world outlets to ensure comprehension and application of management concept.
The key differentiators are the recognition of the course curriculum by the industry and courses imparted by the same full-time faculty members of XLRI who teach their Degree programs. The content comes from XLRI while Reliance World provides easy access to the same through its robust pan India broadband enabled delivery platform.
The fact that there is no change in the learning paradigm for the students or in the teaching model for the professors acts as a key strength of Reliance World Virtual Classroom. Everything is designed like a normal classroom course, except that it is delivered virtually through the Reliance World.
Over 1500 students have completed the XLRI Virtual Classroom programs. Most of them are middle to senior executives of top-notch companies. This speaks of the quality and market penetration of the course. All programs have a campus component of 5-7 days for rigorous classroom sessions. A candidate who pass out is awarded alumnus status and become part of the prestigious XLRI Alumni network through a formal graduation ceremony at XLRI's Jamshedpur campus every year.
Interested professionals should apply online at www.xlri.ac.in/satellite. A hardcopy of the application also needs to be sent to XLRI and it should reach the institute by August 17, 2009.
