| Reliance Infrastructure emerges sole bidder for Rs. 2,676 crore Eastern Peripheral Expressway around Delhi |
New Delhi, 24th December, 2008 : Reliance Infrastructure the infrastructure arm of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group emerged as the sole bidder for 135 kms green field Eastern Peripheral Expressway project covering Haryana, Delhi & UP on Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis today, in spite of two extensions from NHAI earlier. The project would entail an investment of Rs 2,676 crores (NHAI estimate) and involves construction of green field six lane Expressway with access control highway connecting Faridabad- Noida- Gaziabad -Sonepat which will also act as bypass to Delhi with a concession period of 20 years. The project is specifically designed to decongest Delhi traffic under High court instructions. Once operational, the new Expressway will ease traffic congestion, drastically cut travel time and ensure safe and comfortable movement of traffic. This project will take the Reliance Infrastructure road portfolio to 601 kms worth Rs 6500 crores and has emerged as one of the largest BOT Concessionaire for NHAI. Reliance Infrastructure in the last two years has emerged as the largest developer of road and highway projects for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the build, own, transfer scheme. The company is presently in the advanced stages of the four-laning of five National Highway projects in Tamil Nadu, covering a length of 400 kms at a cost of Rs. 3,100 crore. Reliance infrastructure portfolio includes development of Roads, Bridges, Metro Rail and Real Estate projects.
